Motherhood is a gift, a remarkable blessing from God to be called "mom." However, it can also be a challenging vocation, filled with numerous highs and lows and a flood of emotions. Just when you believe you've mastered this full-time role, you find yourself praying for guidance once more. You return, seeking help and completely surrendering yourself to the mercy of our Father again and again praying to Him to hear you , praying this will be the last time you will have to pray this prayer for your child . The pain the emotions the helplessness you feel knowing that you are not the one who they really need help from. But you know who to go to for help and intervention for them the one who knows them and loves them more than you could ever.
Hoping that the jet-black marker will come off that piece of furniture, thinking about who they will grow into and what they will become. Ah, the joys of motherhood—a whirlwind of emotions that can shift more quickly than the unpredictable nature of a toddler's tantrum.
Fortunately, there is hope for us, even amidst the challenging emotions of motherhood, through the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel not only guides us to salvation but also teaches us how to lead godly lives. It offers hope and purpose in every phase, including our journey through motherhood.
As mothers, whether young or old, our hope is firmly anchored in Jesus. The truth is that we all faced an eternal problem that we couldn't resolve on our own. Despite our efforts, our sins created a separation between us and God. Even seemingly "minor" sins like impatience, anger, envy, and lack of faith ensnared and condemned us. Our hearts and hands were tainted.
However, God graciously devised a plan to deliver us from our hopeless condition by sending His Son, Jesus, to save us.
1Corinthians 15:1-6
We frequently aspire to be "good enough" mothers for our children, but unfortunately, we often fall short each day. However, when Jesus came to earth, He lived a flawless life. He was never impatient or acted impulsively, losing His temper and harming others in a burst of unjust anger. He perfectly loved those around Him and was always patient, loving, and kind.
Not only this, but Jesus sacrificed Himseld and took the punishment that we deserved, dying on the cross for our sins and washing us clean. 1John 1:9
God's love supports us in our aspiration to be "good moms". Thanks to the gospel, we don't need to gather enough goodwill or have sufficient "me time" to love our children effectively. We can love our children from the abundance of God's love for us. We love others because God has loved us. 1 John 4:19
If this language seems unclear and you're curious about how the gospel directly affects your challenging moments in motherhood, you're in the right place. We will concentrate on how the gospel offers hope for the tough emotions we face in motherhood. For now, hold onto the key idea: the gospel transforms everything. It gives us hope for the future and strength for the present. As mothers, we no longer parent on our own. We are not powerless against the tide of difficult emotions, as we will explore further. The best is yet to come ....
